Hair Don't

Bony "Ally McBeal" star Calista Flockhart is really gunning for that concentration-camp look. New York magazine reports the actress decided she wanted a super-short "boy" cut -- think Mia Farrow in "Rosemary's Baby" -- and shopped around last month for a stylist who'd help her take the plunge.

"You know how, normally, a hairdresser would jump at the chance to make a major change in a celebrity," a source dished with the mag. "But no one would touch this with a 10-foot pole. They thought she would look like the walking dead."

Flockhart then took the question to Cindy Crawford, who referred the TV star to West Coast hair guy Philip B. He would only trim Flockhart's lank locks to her shoulders -- no shorter.

"I told her I didn't want to shock America," Phil reported. "I said 'You're Ally McBeal, not Madonna. People will want to crucify you -- and tar and feather me.' "
