FRONTLINES: Double Duty

by CHRIS LOMON (TV Guide)

Working on two acclaimed TV dramas might wear down most actors - but not LISA NICOLE CARSON, who's quite content doing double time on Ally McBeal and ER. Mondays, she's Ally's thoughtful roommate, Renee, and, on the occasional Thursday, she shows up as gruff Dr. Benton's former girlfriend, Carla. "When I decided to take on both roles, I honestly thought my life would get really hectic," says the Brooklyn, N.Y., native. "As it turned out, it's not that tough at all. I actually get days off!"

Carson is also highly appreciative that she's on two top-rated shows, which also happen to be critical faves. "Both ER and Ally have excellent writing for an actor, that's what it's really all about." And Carson says she'd like to expand her talents. "I would love to be able to combine acting with singing," says Carson. "If I could do what Vanessa Williams has done, I'd be quite happy." ~
