Ally McBeal star Calista Flockhart says she's nothing like the neurotic lawyer she plays on TV, and she's hopping mad about the anorexia rumors that continue to haunt her.
"I am the antithesis of Ally McBeal," Flockhart tells January's Tatler. "I think when people meet me they think I'm depressed because I'm not anything like her. It can be a bit irritating because I don't want to be known as Ally McBeal, fictional TV character."
"I think, because I'm playing Ally McBeal, that everybody assumes that I'm preoccupied with finding a boyfriend, but I'm really not," says the single star. "I'm very happy being alone, and if I found the right person I'd be happy being with somebody."
And what about those anorexia rumors? "That puts me in a rage," she says. "I think it's unfair, and it's false, and it's hurtful and damaging; it's potentially damaging to my career. I try to have a sense of humor about it but, you know, it's embarrassing because people are staring at me and they're watching everything I put in my mouth and people don't understand how that affects every second of your life." — Rich Brown
