Other items snatched up at the event, where columnist Art Buchwald played auctioneer, included lunch with Diane Sawyer and her husband, director Mike Nichols, for a mere $30,000; a day sail with newsman Walter Cronkite for $10,000; and a tennis match with anchor Mike Wallace for $11,000. Proceeds from the pricey prizes will go to Martha's Vineyard Community Services. |
