Ally McBeal's Life an Open Book

Ally McBeal is not a woman who likes to keep her private life private. After all, she works side-by-side with her ex-boyfriend Billy and complains endlessly about her love life. But if you think that the short-skirted attorney might be holding something back, now's your chance to find out. ReganBooks will release Ally McBeal: The Diary on Nov. 1, just in time for the neurotic on your Christmas list.

Besides giving the lowdown on the friends and co-workers of Ally, who's played to post-feminist perfection by Calista Flockhart, the book will also give you Ally's rules of kissing, her moments of inspiration, her fantasies, as well as her hopes, dreams and frustrations, which can all be summed up in one word: Billy.

"Ally McBeal is a wonderfully complex character whose powerful connection to her generation deepens through her diary," says Judith Regan, head of ReganBooks.

Fans of the Fox-based, David E. Kelley-created series will also be able to feast their eyes on 250 black-and-white photos and a full-color photo insert of all those quirky special effects, from unraveling, panting tongues to that now-annoying dancing baby. The book is expected to be priced at around $16.
